.....This report details the continued deterioration of 25 Salem Avenue as of February 24, 1997 fifteen months after the fire.

Dear Sirs:

RE: STRUCTURAL CONDITIONS OF 25 SALEM AVE. TORONTO, ONT

As per our site inspection dated Feb., 24 1997, to verify the extent and condition of the structure of the above house, due to fire and subsequent improper repair and inadequate heating system, please be advised that:

BASEMENT LEVEL

1. Noticed 5/16" crack on the East Load Bearing wall which has increased from 3/16" dated July 11, 1996 inspected by Walter Engineering.
2. 1/8" crack on the South Wall.
3. Cracks on the supporting column in the basement on the south side (of column) has propagated from the top to the middle of the column.
4. The supporting beam (East-West) is on one side (North) of the column, creating an uneven stress on the column (strain on the south side and stress on the north side of the column).
5. 2-1/2" steel round column is loose, probably shrunk due to cold weather.
6. The 6"x1-1/2" - Quantity (2) supporting bar on furnace room entrance door has already come apart and are lying on the floor.
7. 1/4" Cracks on the 8" x 8" beam in the middle and on the east end were noticed.
8. Noticed condensation on the south wall.
9. Noticed 1/8" crack on 8" x 8" beam on the west side, and shrinkage at the masonry pocket

ON MAIN FLOOR

1. Noticed movement on the floor at the living room entrance.
2. Noticed sag on the load bearing wall because of movement and improper loading.

SECOND FLOOR

1. Noticed 1/4" crack on the drywall of the load bearing wall which signifies house movement .
2. Doors are sagging by 1/2". Fine cracks on door frame was noticed.
3. New fine cracks on east side of load bearing wall.

THIRD FLOOR

1. Cracks on the south side of load bearing wall.
2. 1-1/4" floor sag at load bearing wall.

OUTSIDE

1. Cracks on the outside south wall on window were noticed.

We trust the above items will draw attention to all concerned parties.
