Thank you for your tip. Coincidentally, we were "pointed" to this site about 10 days ago. I personally read through the information and was saddened to learn of the way you've been treated.
My question - where's your agent or broker in "all of this"? What are they doing to help?

Brefni's Response
Our agent tried his best to represent us without success. Insurance companies hold vast amounts of money, in theory in trust to payout claims. If they choose not to honour their policies they have the resources and experience to fight long drawnout legal battles. With the exception of our own experience, I can only speculate that this unequal situation allowes unscrupulous companies to take advantage of disaster victims, who's resources are at their lowest.
I can tell you that the cost of such a struggle is tremendous for the victims, not just financial but spiritual and emotional, from the youngest to the oldest. To even speak about this is to fill my eyes with tears but I have learned to fight and cry at the same time. In the past it has been unusual for situations like ours to become widely known. The weak are the least likely to put up a fight or even speak out.
You can be sure that if companies were not making a profit from this way of doing business they would soon stop.
My hope is that a site like this can make a difference. The responses I have been getting encourage that hope. Thank you for your concern and input.
