Shoddy Repairs For The Sake Of The Insurers' Bottom Line

Wednesday August 20, 1997

MY OPINION: Very powerful, I hope a lot of people visit!

You can't imagine the distrust honest people feel towards the insurance companies and their agents.

The claims adjustors are rude and do have a mandate to save the insurance company money in every way possible. In the auto area direct repair shops are common place, repairs with inferior parts and using unskilled personel. For what?? The bottom line.

Now this practice is being employed for home repairs too. To many times, the consumer feels intimidated by the adjustor and goes along with the "voice of experience" The work is done by contractors using cheap labour to cut expences and the work is shoddy.

If or when the consumer complains to the adjustor, the consumer is made to feel they are on the welfare line and should meekly accept this treatment. We are forced into having auto insurance if we want to drive a vehicle in this country and there has been a lot of reforms and across the board regulations to protect the consumer from the unscrupulous.

Home coverage also needs the same controls. Maybe if more people stand up and speak out the laws will change to protect the consumer.

Ever think about setting up consumer poll??? Just think, everyone who has an opinion can vote for or against the company of their choice. If an on going tally was kept, it could be referred to prior to placing your business. That would be poweful!! Good luck with your claim, and mind those greedy lawyers. They are on both sides of the table and usually are the only winners.
