Report from the Globe and Mail
The Globe and Mail recently reported that Prudential Insurance took a $1,640,000,000 (US) pretax charge against earnings to cover restitution payments to customers victimized by deceptive sales practices..
The report states that the company estimates that payments to victimized customers will total $2,050,000,000 (US).
This amount is reported to be split up between 650,000 policy holders who have filed claim forms. Considerably less than the 10,500,000 policy holders etimated by
the California Department of Insurance to be eligible for compensation.
