Re: Claim that "Commercial Union

A claim has been registered in Toronto Canada against Commercial Union, an insurance company operating world wide, for damages of $6,800,000.00 Canadian for breach of contract and punitive, aggravated and exemplary damages and that amoung other things that "Commercial Union has completely undermined the purpose of property insurance".

The CUCF web site was established by Brefni Shuttleworth one of the plaintiffs in this claim, in February 1997, as a means of publicizing his family's experience with Commercial Union. The site contains consumer information and claims experience on numerous insurance companies as well as other companies within the insurance industry. The site also has facilities for people to publish comments and claims experiences directly to the world wide web.
The site is currently experiencing 900 "user sessions" per month and an average session in excess of 6 minutes. The majority of sessions originate in the USA, followed by Canada and the UK. However the site is accessed by people in most countries that have links to the world wide web and provides an effective resource for consumers dealing with international companies.
